ROSINE, Ky. — James Arvin Hines, 90, formerly of Rosine, departed this life on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born June 22, 1926, to the late Johnie and Jessie Hines.

James was a known short story and song writer. His work can be viewed in the Kentucky Room at The Owensboro/Daviess County Public Library. He played the guitar and was a bluegrass music fan.

James graduated from Horse Branch High School and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Homer Hines (Lillian); one sister, Gertrude Raley (Bud); and a great-nephew, John Worth III.

Survivors include his sister, Barbara Wilson and her husband, Harold; one niece, Sherri Worth; three nephews, Bruce Raley, Joey Wilson, and Sammy Hines; great-nieces, Ali Estevez, Lexee Wilson, and Kylee Wilson; and one great-nephew, Beau Worth.

Friends may visit with Mr. Hines’ family from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A private family service will follow with Rev. Truman Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Rosine Cemetery with military honors by the Wesley Phelps Honor Guard.
