OWENSBORO, Ky. — James D. Chapman, 80, of Owensboro, passed away April 20, 2017, at Wellington Parc. Jim was born May 22, 1936, in Fordsville, to the late Owen and Imogene Chapman and was a 1954 graduate of Daviess County High School.
He worked in maintenance for W.R. Grace and Hampshire Chemicals and retired in 1999. Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, UK basketball and NASCAR. He had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Owen Chapman.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice Sue Temple Chapman; son, Steve Chapman (Becky), of Philpot, Ky.; daughters, Kathy Chapman Bush (Gary), of Martinsville, Ind., Jane Chapman Lindow (Tony), of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Jill Chapman Payne (Martin), Brandon Dukes, Ryan Chapman, Justin Dukes (Carissa), Derrick Lindow (Allie), Rachel Lindow; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Chapman, Dale Chapman and Larry Chapman.
Services will be 12 p.m. on Monday, April 24, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
