OWENSBORO, Ky. — Ernestine Southard Casey Chapman, 93, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Chapman was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Lewis and Winnie Kirtley Southard.
She was a charter member of Masonville Baptist Church. Ernestine loved to travel with her friends, especially to the Smokey Mountains. She loved bowling and playing cards which she did almost nightly with her sisters.
Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Chapman, in 2012; stepdaughter, Rebecca Blincoe; brothers, Herbert, Conward, and Elbert Southard; and sisters, Freeda Maddox, and Jean Evans.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ernie Casey and wife, Judy, of Lawrenceburg; two grandsons, Jeffery Casey, of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Mark Casey and wife, Jessica, of Richmond, Ky.; four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Kensley, Grayson, and Gavin Casey; and sisters, Elwanda Nelson, of Owensboro and June Casey of Beaver Dam, Ky.
The service will be at 12 noon on Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
