BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — James Cecil Goff, 75, of Bowling Green, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at his residence. Cecil was the son of the late Pete and Carrie Goff, born on May 8, 1941, in Cromwell, Ky.
Cecil was a teacher, coach, school administrator and superintendent in a career spanning more than 45 years in public education. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and caretaker to many. He was an avid gardener, rabbit hunter, UK basketball fan, tireless advocate for youth sports and an active member of Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Everett and Reathel Goff, and his sister, Earlene Pirtle.
Cecil is survived by Kathy, his wife of 32 years, and his four children, Cecilia Travis, of Leitchfield, Ky., Jim (Annette) Goff, of Bowling Green, Leslie (Richie) Sanders, of Franklin, Ky., and Chase (Lauren) Goff, of Bowling Green. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Corey and Kyle Travis, Mackenzie and Alex Goff, Brooke and Anna Laura Sanders, and Maddux and Ryder Goff. He is also survived by a sister, Juanita (Ken) Proffitt, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Visitation will be held at J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel in Bowling Green, on Wednesday, April 12, from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday, April 13, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Ky., at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of contributions to the Cecil Goff Youth Sports Scholarship Fund to provide opportunities for children to participate in youth sports programs. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or contributions can be made at any branch of Franklin Bank and Trust.
