CROMWELL, Ky. — Virginia Mae Burgess, 96, of Cromwell, departed this life on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Signature Healthcare in Hartford, Ky. She was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Rockport, Ky., to the late Walter and Silvia White Wilson.
Virginia was a member of Green River Baptist Church in Cromwell and was a homemaker.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Woodrow Burgess, who passed away on July 10, 1994; three brothers, Cletus Wilson, Darrel (Dorothy) Wilson, George (Carrie) Wilson; one sister, Lena (Miller) Pirtle; and one great-grandson, Joe Lowell Armstrong III.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Tony Burgess and wife, Edith Bratcher Burgess, of Burbank, Ohio, and Bill Burgess and wife, Lynn Rogers Burgess, of Cromwell. Virginia was blessed with six grandchildren, Robert Tony Burgess, Terry (Dee Dee) Burgess, Kevin Burgess, Tara (Joe) Armstrong, Trina (Mark) Armstrong and Trent Burgess; nine great-grandchildren, Bobby Burgess, Christina Burgess, Jessica (Kevin) Wall, Garrett (Brittney) Leach, Brennon Leach (fiancée Brittney Towe), Tristen Armstrong, Camden Armstrong, John Mark Armstrong and Chloe Armstrong; five great-great grandchildren, Jaclynn Leach, Zaiden Leach, Hadley Leach, Scarloette Burgess and Madison Wall. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Dr. Glenn Armstrong and Bro. Dennis Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Green River Cemetery in Cromwell. Friends may visit with the family of Mrs. Burgess from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
