PLEASANT RIDGE, Ky. — Frank Eugene “Doc” Yewell, 79, of Pleasant Ridge, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born on Nov. 9, 1937, to his parents, the late Frank Logan Yewell and Gladie Flener Yewell.
Doc loved his family and considered taking care of his wife, children, grandchildren and sisters as his most important role in life. Their lives will never be the same and he will be missed every day.
Doc took great pride in his work as a heavy equipment operator, primarily the dragline, in the coal mining industry, Luttrell’s Drainage and Yager Materials from which he retired.
Doc is preceded in death by his parents; recently his sister G. Voyne Yeiser; and his grandson, Keegan T. Baird.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Smith Yewell; daughters, Tammie W. Longmire (Bob), Kim W. Baird (Eddie), Lisa E. Yewell; son, Jonathan (Jon) Yewell; grandchildren, Wilson L. Baird, Christian J. Baird, Anna C. Longmire and Sarah L. Longmire; and siblings, Avis Y. Moye, Edna Y. Anderson, Elmer Yewell (Jaye) and Barbara Y. Withrow (Raymond “Corky”).
Mrs. Yewell would like to thank her husband’s doctors, Dr. D. Johnson and his staff at Bluegrass Internal Medicine, Dr. R. Mathew, Dr. M. West and Dr. J. Hodskins, Caretenders and Hospice of Western Kentucky.
Services are 2 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Ohio County, Kentucky. Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday and after 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
