Esther (Finn) Bard

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Esther (Finn) Bard, 78, of Beaver Dam, was called to be an Angel in God’s choir on Saturday March 4, 2017. On April 17, 1938, God bestowed a baby girl upon the late Rozella and Dorothy Finn Montgomery. They named her Esther.

Esther was born and raised in Beaver Dam and attended elementary school in the Ohio County school system and graduated from Daviess County School System. Esther loved playing on both the girls basketball and girls softball teams.

Esther professed her faith in Christ at an early age where her love for the Lord led her to find her soul mate for the next 55 years. Esther later joined Barnes Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a long time member of the choir and held several offices until her home going.

She was known as a hard worker at Walmart, with a big smile and a member of Dubois Chapter #25 Order of the Eastern Star.

Esther leaves behind to cherish her many memories; her loving husband of 55 years, Benzell E. Bard Sr., of Beaver Dam; three sons, Benzell E. Bard Jr., of Beaver Dam, Elder James Andre (Dorothy) Bard, of Lebanon, Tenn., and Dana L. Bard (Danette Allen), of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Donna Bard (Steven) Stone, of Henderson, Ky.,; six grandchildren, Marcus, Dante, Lathan “Jazzman” and Desmond Bard, Eboni and Cierra Nash; three great-grandchildren, Zamya Canter and Leo and Ezekiel Bard; a family full of step-grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, stepgreat-great-grandchildren, two aunts, one uncle, several heartbroken cousins, loved ones, friends, church members, all the kids she became a mom/grandma for, co-workers, store workers, honorary family members, Elizabeth Lane and Tinia Fant, and a whole community.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at Barnes Chapel United Methodist Church, 11 Church Street, in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Esther’s family from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes Chapel United Methodist Church and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
