HARTFORD, Ky. — Archie Lee Hazelwood, 94, died on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. Archie was born on Sept. 9, 1922, in Hebbardsville, Ky., to the late Ollie and Irene Newman Hazelwood.
Archie retired from G.E. as an electrician after 36 years.
Archie graduated from Hebbardsville High School in 1940 and Owensboro Technical School in 1955. He was an ordained deacon, member of Masonville Baptist Church and Joe Ellis Masonic Lodge since 1950.
Archie was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodi Hazelwood Morphew; brother, Arnold Hazelwood; and sibling infant twins.
Archie is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jeanette Reid Boswell Hazelwood; sons, Joey and wife, Judy, of Hartford, David and wife, Claudia, of Normandy, Tenn.; grandchildren, Andrew Hazelwood, Matthew Hazelwood, Blake Morphew, all of Hartford, Whitney Hazelwood Brough, and husband, Jock, of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Ben Wood, Alex Morphew, Blane Morphew, and Addison and Ainsley Brough; a host of nieces and nephews; brothers, Hugh (Patricia) Hazelwood, Larry (Suzie) Hazelwood, both of Henderson, Ky.; and sisters, Thelma Goldsberry, of Henderson, and Evelyn Flynn Johnson, of Normandy.
The Family would like to thank the team of incredible caregivers who have blessed us daily since January of 2016 with their love, care and devotion to “Mr.Archie” and granddaddy and Ohio County Hospice Staff.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Masonville Baptist Church with Rev. Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
A Masonic service will be held Monday night at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
