GeraldBashamGerald (Jerry) L. Basham, 67, of Hartford, passed away on Oct. 2, 2015, at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1948 in Huntingburg, Ind., to the late Frederick Thomas and Hazel Maurine Basham.

Jerry was the curator of Basham’s Gun Repair in Hartford, Ky. He was a proud Disabled Vietnam Army Veteran with over 13 years of active duty service and received many awards to include a Bronze Star during his tour in Vietnam. He was a Master Gunsmith, member of the NRA, DAV and the greatest man his family and friends will ever know.

Jerry was proceeded in death by his brother Donald Ray Basham, two sisters who passed at birth and his dearest cousin Butch Wright.

He is survived by Marjorie Basham, his loving wife of 45 years; two daughters, Monica Freimiller (Sean), of Boonville, Ind., and Heather Holland (Joe), of Hartford; also his son, Frederick Basham (Jean), of Greenville Ky.; six grandchildren, Cassie Forbes (Robert), Jake Freimiller, Thomas Basham, Jasmine Holland, Joseph Holland, Jr., and Scott Basham; and one great-grandchild, Oliver Forbes. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed by
many.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Lonnie Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Ky. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
