Joe Lendol Brashear, 31, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky passed away Sept. 4, 2015, at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born June 29, 1984, in Greenville, Ky.
He graduated from Ohio County High School and the University of Louisville. He also studied at the University of Kentucky. He was an avid student of religion and churchgoer.
Joe was a member of St. Hubert’s Episcopal Church in Lexington, Ky. He also regularly attended Goshen Church in Beaver Dam, Trinity Episcopal Church in Owensboro, and Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisville.
He was very proud of his Huguenot heritage and enjoyed visiting French Protestant churches around the country, including the one in Charleston, South Carolina. His hobbies included studying and reading Greek and Latin, cooking, and spending time with his pets Zealand and Eleanor.
Survivors include his parents, Jo Jo (Glen) Duvall Russelburg, of Beaver Dam, and Dr. James (Karen) Brashear, of Central City; siblings, Jenna (John) Brashear Palmer, of Beaver Dam, David Brashear, of Warrenton, N.C., Tom (Peggy) Brashear, of Louisville, Jimmy (Gay) Brashear, of Lexington, David Watkins, of Louisville, Lindsay Watkins, of Central City, and Aaron Russelburg, of Hawesville; his grandparents, George and Mary Duvall, of Beaver Dam; and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Dr. Hunter Hensley and Bro. Mike Taylor officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
