Anna Mary Leach, 89, of Fordsville, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Fordsville, Ky., and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro since 1987 and was secretary of her Sunday School Winsom Class. She was a past member of Fordsville Baptist Church for over 20 years. Anna Mary was past president of the Elizabeth Munday Center, past president of AARP, past president of the Owl’s Club, past president of the C.B. Club, member of the Kentucky Ladies Colonels, member of Golden Partners and 50 year member of the Eastern Star Rebekah Lodge in Owensboro. She loved traveling and visited 15 countries, three provinces and 48 states. She loved caring for the bed babies in the nursery at Bellevue, loved family and friends and hosting games at parties.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Edgar and Minnie Bell Basham Leach; a daughter, Janice Faye Oliver McKinney; and three sisters, Myrtle Mayer, Velma Miller and Lorene Wright.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Lee Oliver (Charles) Young, of Lexington, and Shelia Joann Oliver (Roger) Thurman, of Utica; grandchildren, Charlton Hubert (Lisa) Young, of Chatham, Ill., Will Shannon (Angela) Young, of Versailles, and Brandon Thurman, of Utica; great-grandchildren, Meredith Young, Natalie Young and Cameron Alistair Young; and a brother, James Lexter Leach, of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville with burial in Fordsville Cemetery. Her grandson, Will Shannon Young will be playing the bagpipes during the service. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
