MickeyTSmithMickey T. Smith, 66, of Mt. Carmel, passed away on Saturday Aug. 22, 2015, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab.

He was born on Thursday March 10, 1949 in Owensboro, Ky., the son of Roy and Anita (Hagerman) Smith. He married Debby Cole on Thursday, Aug. 21, 1971, in Hartford, Ky., and she survives.

Mickey graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1971 and remained an avid UK basketball fan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. He was very active in the church as the chairman of the deacons, bus ministry and taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday school for 28 years.

He worked for Ashland Pipeline for 25 years and CountryMark Logistics for 19 years as a pipeline engineer for both companies.

Preceding Mickey in death were his parents.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 44 years, Debby; three sons, Jim Smith, of Bloomington, Ill., Mike Smith, of Evansville, Ind., and Brad and his wife Molly Smith, of Nashville, Tenn.; and two granddaughters, Charlotte and Emily Smith, of Nashville, Tenn.

Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 24, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 130 W 6th Street, in Mt. Carmel, Ill. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.
