
He had been employed by Peabody Coal Company and Commonwealth Aluminum. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Joe Ellis Masonic Lodge #473 of Pleasant Ridge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Turner and Judy Young, and by a brother, Jerry Stinnett.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sylvia Stinnett; a daughter, Lisa Means, of Owensboro; two grandsons, Christopher and Brandon Means; two sisters, Lucy Daniel (Carl), of Texas and Patsy Vance (Greg), of Hartford, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday and after 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial is in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County, Ky.
