Shirley White Daugherty, 70, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, Ky. Shirley was born Aug. 4, 1944, in Morgantown to the late Estill and Beulah Smith White.
She was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and worked at Don Lindsey’s Grocery for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at 5th District Elementary School and loved making hand made quilts. She also loved fishing, farming and spending time with her family.
Other than her parents Shirley is preceded in death by her stepfather, Chuck Fulkerson; husband of 32 years, Ronnie Allen; and husband of 22 years, Ralph Daugherty; brother, Archie White; sister, Irene Butler; and one son, Steve Daugherty.
Shirley Daugherty is survived by two daughters; Rachel Gilpin, husband John, of Bowling Green, Debi Hoffman, husband Mark, of Westfield, Mass; five sons, Tim Allen, wife Nanette, of Oakland, Ky., Randy Allen, wife Mary, of Hartford, Ky., Ryan Daugherty, wife Darla, of Morgantown, Jack Daugherty, wife Danielle, of Westfield Ind., and Rick Collins of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Sue Morris, husband Kenneth, of Morgantown, 17 Grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gerald Geary officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Saturday, July 11, from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
