James “Jim” E. “Hobo” Wiley, 80, of Hartford, Ky., passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1935, to the late Alva Wiley and Katherine Sisk Wiley and in Hopkins County, Ky.
Mr. Wiley retired Peabody Coal Company, Austin Surface Mines. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and VFW both in Madisonville and attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Owensboro. Mr. Wiley was an avid lover of classic cars, motorcycles, animals, folk and country music as well as the ocean and he wrote poetry.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dowell Wiley, of Hartford; one son, James E. “Jay” Wiley II (Irma) of Pensacola, Fla; one daughter, Cathi Bingaman (Chris) of Louisville, Ky.; three stepchildren, Jay Fifield, Mark Fifield and Kathy Payne (Chris), all of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Brandon Wiley and Teah Wiley; one stepgrandson, Travis Payne; two sisters, Edna Earle Skinner (Roy) and Faye Davis (Carroll) all of Farmington, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Kentucky with Bro. Tim Hall officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
