CharlesLPriceMDCharles L. Price, M.D., 86, of Hartford, Ky., passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Trigg County, Ky., on June 19, 1928, to the late Robert E. Price and Dora Allen Price.

He was a medic in the United States Army from 1946 until 1949 serving in Occupied Japan. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University in 1952 and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1956.

After his internship, he returned to Hartford where he practiced as a general practitioner from 1957 until 1986. Dr. Price served as Ohio County Coroner from 1970 until 1974. He was named the Chief of Staff of Ohio County Hospital in 1975. Dr. Price served as the medical director of the Green River Health District from 1986 until 1988, as the district director from 1988 until 1990, and the medical director from 1990 to 1996. He was a member of the Hartford Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Price, D.M.D., on Aug. 31, 2012.

Survivors include his wife, Shirlye Johnson Price, of Hartford; one son, Charles L. “Chuck” Price II (Vanessa), of Hartford; three daughters, Pam Koonce (Keith), of O’Fallon, Mo., Sandy Cuzzort, of Carmel, Ind., and Brenda Perigo (Stuart), of Evansville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Steven Koonce, Adam Cuzzort, Brian Koonce, Laura Fulkerson, Reide Perigo, Derek Perigo, Matthew Cuzzort, Kyle Perigo, Kip Price and Karis Price; four great-grandchildren, Brylee Koonce, Avery Cuzzort, Henry Cuzzort and Oliver Fulkerson; and one sister, Ann Price, M.D., of Hartford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, with Rev. Glenn Armstrong and Rev. Wesley O. Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 343 South Main Street, Beaver Dam, Ky.

Dr. Price was generous and compassionate. He loved his family, cared for many in his community as a physician, and was strong in his faith. Dr. Price devoted his whole life to serving other people.
