Lendsay R. Coburn, 75, of Owensboro, Ky., died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Scottsville, Ky. She was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Roosevelt and Cora Ann Phelps.
She was a teacher’s assistant for Warrick County Schools and had owned and operated a florist in Hartford, Ky. She was a previous member of North Friendship Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the group “The Lady’s Double Trio”. She was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and serving others with her cooking.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Smith; second husband, James Earl Coburn; and siblings, Norma Jean Phelps, Earleen Phelps, Earl Phelps, and Obadiah “Bee” Phelps.
She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Kirby (Mike), of Scottsville; son, Kevin Smith (Pam), of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Garrett Kirby, Grant Smith and Griffin Smith; a sister, Geletta Blair, of Bowling Green, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and after 12 noon on Sunday at the funeral home.
