Charles Eldred Black, 90, of Beaver Dam, Ky., passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Beaver Dam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Ohio County, Ky., on May 7, 1925, to the late David Thompson Black and Cliffie Leach Black.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Black retired as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed farming and working mules. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church.
Mr. Black was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Bennett Black, on Aug. 8, 2004.
Survivors include one son, Eldred (Sandra) Black, of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Edna Jane (John) White, of Cromwell; four grandchildren, Emily (Corey) Clark, Lance Black, Kimberly (Chad) Greenwell, and Jonaka (Jared) Hall; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Ky., with Rev. Peggy Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Miller Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Kentucky.
