Howard Lee Whittaker, 79, of Hartford, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Livia, Ky., on Feb. 28, 1936, to the late Elmer J. Whittaker and Louise Noel Whittaker.
Mr. Whittaker retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #633 in Owensboro and as a self-employed oil producer. He was a member of Barnett’s Creek Baptist Church and Joe Ellis Masonic Lodge #473 in Pleasant Ridge.
Survivors include his wife, Ara Williamson Whittaker, of Hartford; two sons, Mark (Terri) Whittaker, of Hartford, and Lyn (Tasha) Whittaker, of Owensboro; one daughter, Nita (Gene) Wheeler, of Hartford; six grandchildren, Sarah Powell, Andrew Whittaker, Tyler Daugherty, Zachary Whittaker, Taylor Whittaker and Will Whittaker; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene (Carolyn) Whittaker, of Hartford, and Gerald (Charlotte) Whittaker, of Hartford; and one sister, Bonnie Moseley, of Utica.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Bro. Raymond Ward and Bro. Chris Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Barnett’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
