Penny René May, 50, of Owensboro, Ky., died Monday, March 16, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after a short illness. Penny was born July 19, 1964 in Christian County, Ky., to Anna Sue (Hite) and John W. May.
She was a graduate of Daviess County High School. Penny enjoyed collecting purses and jewelry, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She worked most of her adult life in the service of the intellectually and developmentally disabled.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Carolyn Lee.
Survivors include four brothers, John D. (Linda) May, of Beaver Dam, Bruce (Stacy) May, of Livermore, Gregory L. May, of Hayesville, N.C., and Michael Todd (Pam) May, of Owensboro; four sisters, Judy (Ron) Nigels, of Hayesville, N.C., Linda (Darrell) Howard, of Masonville, Mari Jackson, of Owensboro, Kathy (José) Rosa of Lugoff, S.C.; her life partner, Curtis Miller, of Sacramento, Ky.; longtime friend, Angie Holland, of Owensboro; 22 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and -nephews.
Her memorial service is 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
