RogerWayneHurstRoger Wayne Hurst, 65, of Hartford, passed away Thursday March 12, 2015 at Ohio County Hospital. He was born Nov. 28, 1949, in Hartford, Ky., to the late Hilary Hurst and Earldene Pipes Hurst.

Mr. Hurst became a Christian early in life and wanted his friends and family to know he loved the Lord.

He especially enjoyed fifth Sunday Singings. He was a lifelong member of Hartford Christian Church and a current member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church in Horse Branch. He built racing carburetors, which brought him much joy and fulfillment as well as forged many friendships over the years. Roger volunteered for the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War serving as a Sonarman.

Survivors include two brothers, James Hurst, of Hartford, Ronnie Hurst (Mary), of Hartford; one sister, Ann Howell (Kenny), of Hartford; two nieces, Marlo Cunningham Elmore (Greg), Robyn Cunningham Baird (Patrick); and nine great-nieces and -nephews, Kate, Nicole, Eva and Annsley Elmore, of Smyrna Tenn., and Brett, Brody, Bennett, Brylee and Brooklyn Baird, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Glen Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, in Hartford, Ky., with full Military Honors will be performed by Wesley C. Phelps Honor Guard. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
