Sarah “Grace” Norris, 75, of Fordsville, went home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2015, at home.
Grace was greeted in Heaven by her husband, John “Jimmy” Norris, Sr.; their daughter, Debra Horn; and granddaughter, Shawna Jo Ferry.
Grace was born on April 6, 1939 in Owensboro. She married Jimmy on Dec. 4, 1953, and they had seven children. Grace worked for fifteen years at Commercial Wallpaper of Hammond, Ind. Upon moving back home to Kentucky, she began work at Fordsville Medco Center until she retired in 1990.
After retirement, Grace enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her granddogs. She was an active member of The Church of God of Prophecy for many years. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many children and adults. All that experienced her “tea parties” never forgot. Grace was an honorary Mom and Mamaw to many and will be missed by all.
Grace leaves behind six heartbroken children, John (Deanna) Norris, Paul (Lori) Norris and Cathy (Tommy) Sanders, all of Fordsville, Ivy (Gary) Ratliff, of Owensboro, Anna Sanders (Darrell Hedden), of Philpot, and Robert Norris, of Owensboro; one sister, Mae Godsey, of Fordsville; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Fordsville Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Neville Green officiating. Burial will be in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Geary Funeral Home, Fordsville, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
