Ethelyne Cook, 91, of 235 East Fourth Street; Calhoun, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at her home in Calhoun. Ethelyne Abney was born Jan. 2, 1924, in McLean County, Ky., to the late Ellis and Vena Evans Abney.
Ethelyne retired from General Electric of Owensboro and was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in the yard and caring for her flowers.
In addition to her parents, Ethelyne was preceded in death by three grandsons, Byron Keith Morris, Donald Brent Layton, and Bruce Wayne Morris; and by a brother, Glenn Abney.
Survivors include her children, Linda Morris and husband, Billy, Fred A. Cook and wife, Lisa, both of Calhoun, and Kay Pate and husband, Cisco, of Hartford; five grandchildren, Beth Smith and husband, Dean, Barbi Morris-Irby and husband, Mark, William Fred Cook and wife, Trisha, Bobbie Jo Denham and husband, Michael, and Scott Layton and wife, Marsha; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor Morris, Gabby Smith, Bella Irby, Shep Irby, Hannah Cook, William Cook, Jaxon Cook, Morgan Cook, Dane Denham, and Samantha Baggett and husband, Logan; two great-great-grandchildren, Lillian Kay Baggett and Lucas Allen Baggett; a brother, Lynn Abney and wife, Pat of Chandler, Ind.; and two sisters, Sue Straney, of Calhoun, and Helen Hoover and husband, Bill, of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. David Fortner officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Ethelyne’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at Musters in Calhoun.
