Waltrude “Trudy” Baker Richeson, 96, of Owensboro, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on Feb. 9, 1918, in Ohio County to the late Frank and Mollie McKinley.
Trudy was a long-time resident of Pellville, where she and her husband, Jess, owned a grocery. She was a member of Pellville Baptist Church for many years, where she was active in the youth ministry. Trudy was currently a member of Third Baptist Church in Owensboro. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Worthy Matron of the Hawesville Chapter. She was an avid fan and supporter of Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Trudy loved life and her Lord, Jesus Christ. She devoted her life to her family and helped so many along life’s path. She was a great storyteller, listener, encourager and friend. She will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 51 years, Jess Baker, in 1984; her second husband, Everett “Corky” Richeson, in 2007 ; four brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by a sister, Louise Medcalf, of Owensboro; nephews, Larry McKinley, of Owensboro, and Earl Gene (Patty) McKinley, of Crown Point, Ind.; two great-nephews; and two great-great-nieces; two stepdaughters, Susie (Harold) King, of Owensboro, and Deanna Richeson, of California; several stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews by marriage.
Services are at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at James H Davis Funeral Home Chapel with her great nephew, Jeff Draper, officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. on Saturday until service time at the funeral home.
