Norman J. Brown, 84, of Hartford, passed away Dec. 24, 2014, at his residence. He was born July 15, 1930, in Del Rio, Texas, to the late Jim Brown and Gladis Southard.
He was of Baptist Faith, retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Company, and a past member of the Centertown Masonic Lodge #714 F&AM.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Roger Brown; four grandchildren, Roger Brown, Jr., Jason Brown, Brandy Henderson, and Pam Brown; and one brother, Ellis Ray Nelson.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Reba C. Prewitt Brown, of Hartford; four sons, Craig (Sandy) Brown, Terry Brown, and Kent (Kathy) Brown, all of Hartford, and Keith (Karen) Brown, of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Norma Henderson, of Seattle, Wash.; and two sisters, Gloria (Rev. Wes) Hanson, of Hartford, and Dorothy Nell O’Hara, of Sacramento, Calif.; and one daughter-n-law, Tina Brown, of Beaver Dam. Norman was blessed with nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m Saturday, Dec. 27, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Matthew Schaffer officiating. Burial will be in Clear Run Cemetery near Hartford.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
