Searcy Frederick “Fred” Raley, 76, of Horse Branch, Ky., passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Greenwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Bowling Green, Ky. He was born on Sept. 22, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, Ky., to the late Searcy Raley and Ruth Whitehead Raley.
Mr. Raley retired from MAPCO Coal and was a former member of the Ohio County School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Landrum Raley, of Horse Branch; one son, James Frederick (Kristina Lynn Kinsey) Raley, of Haubstadt, Ind.; one daughter, Amy Elizabeth Raley, of Hartford; three grandchildren, Megan Kristine Raley, Madelene Mae Raley and Meredith Grace Raley; two brothers, David Raley, of Horse Branch, and Paul Raley, of Beaver Dam; and five sisters, Barbara Mitchell, of Greenville, Darya Spencer, of Rosine, Jill (Ray) Alingh, of Cromwell, Marsha Reeve, of Hartford, and Mary Rice, of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Rev. Earnest Whitely officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Rosine, Ky.
