Rev. Wesley Edgar Lindsey, 82, of Beaver Dam, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at his home. He was born April 17, 1932, in Olaton, to the late Bennie Alfred and Martha Ellen Burden Lindsey.
He attended Horse Branch General Baptist Church and worked as a coal miner at Peabody Coal Company and was a Baptist Preacher since 1965.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Alfred and Martha Ellen Lindsey; five brothers, Enos Lindsey, Robert Lindsey, William Lindsey, George Lindsey and Clifty Lindsey; two sisters, Mahalie Lindsey and Claudia Burden; two grandsons, Jason Arnold and Ricky Sharp Jr.; four great-children, Colton Brown, Jacob and Julia Burden and Noah Gregory; two sons-in-law, Ricky Sharp Sr. and Gale Arnold; and one daughter-in-law, Regina Lindsey.
Survivors include his wife, Matilda Mae Stewart Lindsey, of Beaver Dam; seven children, Anna Sharp (Ernest Geary), of Beaver Dam, Janice Arnold, of Beaver Dam, Rev. Bruce (Susan) Lindsey, of Beaver Dam, Rev. Wesley A. Lindsey, of Beaver Dam, Martha Niceswander (Tim Painter), of Beaver Dam, James L. (Donna) Lindsey, of Douglas, Ga., and Denise (Barry) Cooper, of Hartford; two sisters, Vina Hayse, of Hartford and Hallie Blanchard, of Owensboro, 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation of Gideon Bibles (King James Version) to local hotels, churches and homeless shelters.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Horse Branch General Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Tarrance and Rev. Jay Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Horse Branch General Baptist Church Cemetery. Vistitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home and 12 p.m. until the time of service at Horse Branch General Baptist Church.
