MaryBeatriceRichards1Mary Beatrice “Skeeter” Richards, 82, of Hartford, Ky. passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at her residence. She was born on April 18, 1932, in Yamen, Ky., to the late David Davison and Selena Smith Davison.

Mrs. Richards retired from Petal Pusher Florist, was a member of Hartford Church of Christ, No Creek Homemakers and a Kentucky Colonel. Known to many as “Skeeter” she enjoyed time with her family, sewing and attending dances.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rolla “Pete” Richards, Jr., on Oct. 16, 1990, and her daughter-in-law, Tina Richards on April 11, 2011.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffery Lyn Richards (Tammy), of Hartford, and Larry Don Richards (Virginia), of Hartford; nine grandchildren, Kimm Witt (Dave), of Owensboro, Adam Richards (Magen), of Oakland, Tenn., Audra Cleaveland (Danny), of Beaver Dam, John Richands (Samantha), of Cordova, Tenn., Cody Richards, of Owensboro, Brittany Grimes (Dustin), of Cromwell, Clare, Claudia and Chloe Cole, of Hartford; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Ruth Nation, of Louisville, Nettie Pearl Embry, of Caneyville, and Lena Black (Titus), of Richmond, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.

MaryBeatriceRichards2Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with James A. Hogan, Minister officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Ky.
