Wilma Faye Smith, 75, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 23, 1939, in Ohio County to the late Floyd and Etta Louise Knight Baggarly.
She was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church in Owensboro and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Etta Baggarly; her brother, Charles Baggarly and her stepmother, Mary Baggarly.
Survivors include her companion, Howard R. Cox, of Owensboro; one daughter, Debbie Hancock and her husband, David, of Owensboro; one son, Rick Baker and his wife, Debbie, of Reynolds Station; three sisters, Kay Black, of Echols, Frannie Ward and her husband, Roger, of Hartford, and Linda J. Goff and her husband, Eddie, of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hancock and his wife, Cassie, of Owensboro, Jessica Heichelbech and her husband, Bryan, of Owensboro, Jill Nesmith, of Owensboro, Crystal Purcell and her husband, Chris, of Owensboro, and Nicholas Baker and his wife, Wanda, of Philpot, and nine great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Hancock, Miller Heichelbech, Summer Nesmith, Dawson Nesmith, Alyssa Purcell, Melia Purcell, Wade Purcell, Brett Baker and Nicholas Baker Jr. and her loving dog Sassy.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Farrell Isenberg officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
