Mary Evelyn Deering Holland, of Browder, Ky., passed on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at 12:45 p.m. She was born on Dec. 2, 1921, in Depoy, Ky., to the late James Herbert and Ella Eison Deering.
Mary was a homemaker. She loved to read, raise flowers and she loved to cook. She loved her family and friends deeply and made each one feel special. Everyone that knew her spoke of her kindness and sweet nature. She loved to laugh. She was a member of Browder Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Lamar Holland; sons, James Lamar Holland, David Lloyd Holland, and Kenneth Wayne Holland, and brother, James Herbert Deering.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Lynn) Holland, of Owensboro, Ky.; daughters, Judy (Lonnie) Holland Hawes, of Beaver Dam, and Rita Holland West, of Browder, Ky.; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Deering, of Clarksville, Tenn., and one sister, Bonnie Shaw, of Lexington, Mass. Several nieces and nephews.
Services are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, burial will be at Forrest Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. for the family and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the public. The Reverend Scott Casebier officiating.The family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice. Envelopes will be at the funeral home.
