Carol Ewing Robey, 58, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She was born Oct. 11, 1954, in Florence, Ky., to the late C. M. “Hop” Ewing and Sue Houston Ewing.
She graduated from Northern Kentucky University and received a Master’s Degree with Honors in Social Work from the University of Louisville. She taught Social Work for Western Kentucky University for many years and worked for the Opportunity Center and the Kentucky Department for Family Services. She was a master gardener and enjoyed giving flowers from her garden to visitors of her Ohio County home. She was a great lover of animals and adopted many stray tick-infested dogs and cats that would show up at her home. She was a breast cancer survivor and inspired many with her courage.Carol is survived by her husband of 35 years Bob Robey of Fordsville; a son, Naren Robey and his wife, Ildi, of Lexington, Ky., and their 11 month-old son, Oscar Robert; three stepchildren, Tanya Sturgill and her two daughters, Hannah and Katherine, Kevin Robey and his wife Leah and their two daughters, Camelia and Lilli, all of Lexington, Greg Robey and his wife Cathy and their daughter, Haley, and son, Jack, of Bowling Green; four sisters, Elizabeth Brown of Hopkinsville, Ky., Rebecca Ewing of Erlanger, Diane Ewing Whalen of Florence, and Emily Ewing Gillum of Richwood; and a brother, Alan Ewing of Irving, Texas.A reception will be held Saturday, July 12, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory beginning at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Saint Benedict Homeless Shelter.Messages of condolence may be placed at: www.glennfuneralhome.com.
