Bertha E. Fraley, 92, of Kentucky 554; Utica, Ky., died Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Bertha Ellen Burgess was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Echols, Ky., to the late John and Ardie Olis Geary Burgess and was married to Willie Fraley.
Bertha was a homemaker and member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Fraley, who died June 17, 2000, and by a daughter, Hilda Gore.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Shultz of Cleveland, Ohio, and Billy Shultz of Owensboro; five daughters, Cissy Hart of Elizabethtown, Donna Mattingly of Louisville, Brenda Henry of Owensboro, Vickie Greenwell of Panther, and Christy Tran of North Carolina; a stepson, Robert Fraley of Cleveland; a stepdaughter, Barbara Fraley of Cleveland; two brothers, J.C. Burgess of St. George, Utah, and Harold Burgess of Beaver Dam; a sister, Stella Harper Galloway of Owensboro; 32 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Echols Cemetery in Ohio County. Friends may visit with Bertha’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
