Costella Embry Phelps, 83, of Hartford, Ky., passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. Costella was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Butler County, to the late Eclet and Frances Lacefield Embry.
She was a homemaker, also loved tending to her garden and flowers and reading her Bible. She was a member of Flatwoods Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie D. Phelps; two sons, Cary Grant Phelps and Daniel Ryan Phelps; one grandson, Tyler O’Neil Phelps and five sisters Diana Bierly, Doris Merritt, Glendolyn Tomes, Bernice Hunt and Blanchie Tomes.She is survived by two daughters, Doris Phelps and companion, Greg Hunt, of Beaver Dam, Ellen Winstead and husband, Mike, of Hartford; three sons, Tony Phelps of Hartford, Phillip Phelps of Morgantown and Michael Phelps and wife, Angela, of Crittenden, Ky.; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Cody Embry and wife, Monnie, of Indiana; two sisters, Peggy Barrett and husband, Martin, and Vondale Cavanaugh and husband, Bobby, both of Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral Service will be held at Flatwoods Church of Christ, Wednesday, June 11, at 3 p.m. with Bro. Chester Phelps officiating . Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11, from 10 a.m. until time of service at Flatwoods Church of Christ.
