Sara “Sally” Wilson Etter, 83, of Rockwood, Tenn., formerly of Hartford, Ky., passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at The Bridge at Rockwood Nursing Facility. She was born in Olaton, Ky., on Aug. 29, 1930, to the late Arthur Wilson and Winnie Cook Wilson.
Mrs. Etter retired as a secretary from the Whiting, Ind., City School System. She was a member of Hartford Baptist Church and was a former member of the Whiting Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of The Gideons Auxiliary and former member of the Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Etter, on Jan. 16, 2012; one sister, Betty Wheeler; and one brother, Gary Dean “Bud” Wilson.
Survivors include one son, Donald Etter (Patty) of Whiting, Ind.; two daughters, Laquita Addington (Phillip) of Kingston, Tenn., and Betty Berry (Scott) of Gaffney, S.C.; two grandchildren, Chris Addington (Jennie) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sara Berry of Gaffney, S.C.; and two brothers, Bill Wilson (Diane) of Hartford and Mike Wilson (Sue) of Rosine, Ky.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, at McGrady Creek Church Cemetery in Grayson County with Bro. Bill Kendrick officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with no visitation on Friday.
