Charles Gorden Campbell, 81, of Caneyville, passed away Friday, May 9th, 2014 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 8, 1933, in Grayson County, the son of the late Neil and Edna (Cummings) Campbell.
Charles was a member of the Wilson Church (Pleasant Union-Grayson County). He worked for seven years for Illinois Central Railroad operating a coal temple on weekends and retired from Lorillard Tobacco Factory after 32 years employment. After retiring from Lorillard, he worked at the Grayson County Detention Center for 12 years and also served as the 2nd District Magistrate for four years.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Campbell; two brothers, David “Buster” Campbell of Central City and Hugh Campbell of Paducah and one sister, Mary Campbell Lee of Utica, Ky.
Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen (Turner) Campbell; his children, Debbie Hack, David Campbell (Rosa) both of Leitchfield, Regina Diane Bratcher (Charles) of Morgantown and Delaina Campbell (Fred) of Leitchfield; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Ida Mae Miller (Sammy) of Hartford.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Garry Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Brown Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Sunday after 3 p.m., Monday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
