Brenda Gail Shields, 55, of McHenry, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Heartford House in Owensboro. She was born Nov. 1, 1958, to the late James Murl Matthews and Bonnie Allen Matthews in Hartford, Ky.
She was a member of McHenry Baptist Church, McHenry City Commissioner, and she was a child care provider.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Murl Matthews.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Mark Shields; mother, Bonnie Allen Matthews of McHenry; one son, Jason (Courtney) Shields of Santa Claus, Ind.; one daughter, Crystal (Christopher) Geary of Hartford; two brothers, Rickey (Susan) Matthews of Hartford, David (Ramonda) Matthews of Reed, Ky.; one sister, Debbie (Carl) Frizzell of Beaver Dam, and father- and mother-in-law, Malcolm and Peggy Shields of McHenry. Brenda was blessed with three grandchildren, Isabelle Geary, Gavin Shields, and Adalynn Geary.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Bro. Brent Howard officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Sunday.
