Charles Homer “Chuck” Bunger, 73, of Olaton, Ky., passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 4, 1940, in Hartford, Ky., to the late Homer Bunger and Alma Helen Hoover Bunger.
Mr. Bunger served in the United States Army during Vietnam War and later retired as Chief Warrant Officer. He then retired from the United States Government as a Civil Service Worker and attended Cedar Grove General Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Elaine Bunger, who died at age 16 of Rheumatic Fever and one great-grandson, Wyatt Charles Luman.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Fredia Brown Bunger of Olaton; two daughters, Angela F. Bunger of Portland, Ore., and Susan K. Baran of Olaton; three grandchildren, Shannon Luman, Mykaya Baran and Raygan Baran; one great-grandson, Owen R. Luman; one sister, Anna Lois Mellott (Gene) of Hartford and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Larry Embry and Bro. David Hocker officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. A graveside service with full military honors will be presented Thursday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Ky.
