Billy Price Blankenship, 84, of Central City, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 12:35 a.m. at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Blankenship was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Muhlenberg County.
He was a conductor with Illinois Central Railroad. He was of the Baptist faith and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Catherine McRoy Blankenship; and parents Kenneth and Faye Blankenship.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Vincent Blankenship; sons, Doyle Blankenship of Central City, Douglas Earl (Kim) Blankenship of Drakesboro, and Kenneth Alan Blankenship of Central City; daughters, Debra (Jack) Eaton of Central City and Pamela (Daniel) Haynes of Centertown; stepsons, Alton (Sherry) Rickard of Central City and Troy Rickard of Bremen; brothers, James Dale Blankenship of Beaver Dam and Tommy Blankenship of Simpsonville; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. J.W. Haire officiating, assisted by Rev. Jewel Martin. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
