Carrol L. Daugherty, of Horse Branch, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital at the age of 79. He was born May 25, 1934, in Cromwell, Ky., to the late Offie and Lena (Cook) Daugherty and Guy and Lillian Taylor.
He was a member of the Horse Branch Church of God and was retired from General Electric in Louisville where he worked for 29 years. He was a member of the Oakalona Masonic Lodge #853 in Louisville and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon (Mary) Daugherty and Elwood Daugherty and three sisters, Guynell Cowles, Peggy Daugherty and Una Helen Daugherty.
Survivors include his wife, Maxelean Whitely Daugherty of Horse Branch; two sons, Roger (Vickie) Daugherty of Horse Branch and Gregory (Pat) Daugherty of Horse Branch; four sisters, Lillian Amos of Louisville, Edith (James) Whittaker of Morgantown, Nadine (Larry) Havener of Utica and Kathy (Lynn) Evans of Morgantown. He was a proud grand-dad to five grandchildren, Brad (Laura) Brzezinski of Lebanon, Ohio, Mandy (Trent) Holbert of Owenton, Ky., Donnie (Amy) Daugherty of Tell City, Ind., Adam (Amanda) Daugherty of Beaver Dam and Ashley (Matt) Boyken of Horse Branch. He was also a very proud great grand-dad and papaw to 13 great-grandchildren, Brinkley, Alexis, Brayden, Salin, Braydon, Airianna, Lucas, Julia, Spencer, Whitney, Clay, Evan and Ella.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Earnest Whitely officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery in Horse Branch. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
