William Michael “Mike” Riley, 91, of 155 Boxwood Drive; Livermore, Ky., died Saturday, March 8, 2014, surrounded by his family at his home in Livermore. William Michael Riley was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Hartford, Ky., to the late Rolly Rowan and Bess Fair Riley, was married to the former Sarah Hornbrook Marshall until her death on Aug. 13, 1997, and was later married to the former Joyce Fay Messenger on March 27, 1999.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, stationed in Europe and a recipient of a Bronze Star. Mike graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy in 1950, opened Riley Drug Store of Livermore in the early 1950’s, and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Hartford Christian Church and attended both Livermore United Methodist Church and Livermore General Baptist Church. Mike was a member of Livermore Lions Club, served on the Livermore Public Library Board, and served on the Board of Directors of First Security Bank.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Riley; a son, Michael Riley and wife, Christine, of Jackson, Tenn.; two daughters, Emily Riley Miller and husband, Andrew, of London, England, and Sarah Riley Quigg and husband, Ben, of Russellville; a stepdaughter, Malissa Troutman of Rockport; seven grandchildren, Emily Fair Miller, George Miller, Sarah Emily Filbey, Hannah Twinem, Olivia Filbey, Taylor Harmon, and Adam Harmon; a niece, Coleen Lewis; two great-nieces, Cara Lenzo and Lee Stenberg and two great-great-nieces, Alina Lenzo and Lilly Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Dame and the Rev. Roy Day officiating with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery in Logan County. Friends may visit with Mike’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Livermore.
Mike’s family would like to express their appreciation for the personal care and attention given by both Baptist Health Hospice and the caregivers for the past four years.
