Virginia Lee Ward, 86, of Pleasant Ridge, Ky., passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1927, in Stanley, Ky., to the late Leonard B. Hall and Flora Ezell Hall.
Mrs. Ward was a former member of Mount Zion General Baptist Church in Reed, Ky., enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was Honorary First Lady of Diamond Lake Campground.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Edna Murphy, Claude Hall, James Hall and Geneva Brooks.
Survivors include, her husband of 42 years, Marion Eugene Ward, of Pleasant Ridge; three sons, Floyd “Sonny” Evans (Linda) of Newman, Ky., and David Ward (Judy) and Joseph Ward of Pleasant Ridge; one daughter, Nancy Hall (Greg) of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was a special “Auntie.”
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Bro. J.W. Haire officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
