Melvin Hugh Wilhite, 73, of Cromwell, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at his residence. He was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Owensboro to the late Noah and Elizabeth Stites Wilhite.
He was a Vietnam Veteran were he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Melvin also was a Journeyman for Local 103 in Evansville. Melvin loved God, his family and the country he served.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in the death by his brother, Kenneth Watkins.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Marie Evans Wilhite of Cromwell; two sons, Rob (Heather) Wilhite of Redding, Calif., and Mel (Donna) Wilhite of Las Vegas, Nev.; six daughters, Tammy Wilhite and Nikki Wilhite both of Madisonville, Barbara (Dennis) Wortham of Hartford, Tina (Ricky Estes) Jent of Rockport, Ind., Regina House of Bowling Green, and Traci (Jeremy) Nieman-Dennis of Owensboro; two sisters, Margaret (Joe) Mudd of Louisville and Doris (Roy) Adams of Owensboro. Melvin was blessed with 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of the arrangements.
