Alvin B. Keown, 66, of Cromwell went to be with the Lord on Feb. 22, 2014, at Baptist Health of Madisonville. He was born Aug. 31, 1947, at Pleasant Ridge in Ohio County to the late Dewey and Annie Burdin Keown.
He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United State Navy and served postmaster of his ship. He later was employed by the Evansville, Ind., Post Office. Most of his life was spent as a missionary in various countries and truly was dedicated as an evangelist for God. He enjoyed directing and producing a TV Christian show.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in by two sisters, Carolyn Keown and Ola Steff Smith.
Survivors include his loving wife and mother of his five children, Lisa Schell Keown, five children, Robert, Annalisa, Sarah, Catherine, and Abigail Keown all of home; one sister, of Lois Keown Abbott of Cromwell; three brothers, J.D. Keown of Horse Branch, Alton Keown of Auburn, Ala., and Dewey Harold Keown of Panama City Beach, Fla. Alvin was blessed with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Covenant Community Church in Madisonville, with Dr. Michael Knight officiating. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at Stewart Cemetery (505 S) near Cromwell.
William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam will be in charge of the arrangements.
