Forrest Chinn, 83, of McHenry, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Prentiss to the late John Everett and Ida Bell Hocker Chinn.
He was the owner of Chinn Trucking Company and he served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He served in the Philippines and then served in the Korean War as a front line medic. He served two years in Korea. He was a singer with the Green River Quartet for several years and was a Deputy for the Ohio County Sherriff’s Office under Jim Wheeler and then went on to work for the Beaver Dam Police Department. He was a member of Independence Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Everett Chinn and Ida Bell Hocker Chinn; his daughter, Kimberly Dawn Chinn, and three brothers, Ray Chinn, Adrain Chinn and Don Chinn.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Chinn of McHenry; his son, Greg Chinn and wife Diane of McHenry; two brothers, Ted Chinn and wife Linda of Prentiss and Johnny Chinn of Cromwell; one sister, Frances Kessinger and husband C.J. of Cromwell; one grandson, Steven Chinn of McHenry; two stepgrandchildren, Sarah Williams and husband Derrick of Beaver Dam and Chad Tichenor of Beaver Dam and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Pete Leach and Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam with Military Honors performed by Pfc. Wesley Phelps Ohio County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
