LawrencePeachyJohnstonLawrence Kenneth “Peachy” Johnston, 83, of Beaver Dam, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Fordsville Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born March 1, 1930, in McHenry, Ky., to the late Gilbert and Bessie Langley Johnston. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Company.

Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Marshall Johnston and two sisters.

Survivors include his special friend, Ann Abney of Beaver Dam; six nephews, Whayne (Teresa) Johnston of Hartford, Richard Johnston and Jeff (Tammy) Johnston both of Mt. Carmel, Ill., Josh (Tara) Johnston, Kevin (Dawn) Johnston, and Blake Johnston all of Evansville, Ind.; three nieces, Lisha (Rick) Pohl of Haubstadt, Ind., Lori (BJ) Dardeen and Kelly (Brad) Bolin both of Mt. Carmel, Ind. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Pete Leach officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.
