Kathryn Marie Foreman Murphy Swihart, 96, of Sevierville, Tenn., formerly of Dundee and Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville. She was born June 11, 1917, in Ohio County to the late William Mariam and Lela Ada Allen Foreman.
She had been a member of New Baymus Church of Christ and Southside Church of Owensboro, she was a devoted Christian.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wendell Murphy; her second husband, Alton Swihart; her daughter, Peggy Joyce Hoover; eight siblings, Paul, Amon, Calvert, James, Beulah Westerfield, Hazel Duncan, Marion (baby) and Virginia Quisenberry and her granddaughter, Kathy Hoover Hardesty.
Survivors include her son, Bobby G. Murphy and daughter-in-law Marva J.(Janie) Murphy of Sevierville, Tenn.; son-in-law, G.A. Hoover of Philpot; four grandchildren, Danny Hoover, Patrick (Heather) Hoover, Lisa J. (Billy) Vance and Shelley J. (John) Linam; grandson-in-law, Stephen Hardesty; seven great-grandchildren, Jeff Hardesty, Jonathan Vance, Adam Vance, Jackson Biggers, Lauryn Biggers, Michael Hoover, and Allison Hoover; two stepgreat-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Mr. Jeff Lankford and Mr. Jarrod Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in New Baymus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday.
