Freda Pharris, 80, of Spring Lick, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the Spring View Health & Rehab in Leitchfield. She was born on March 7, 1933, in Rockport, Ky., the daughter of the late Elza and Lennie (Brown) Embry.
Freda was a sewing machine operator for more than 30 years and retired from Kane & Phar Shar. She was a founding member of the New Harvest Baptist Church. Freda was also the Activity Director of the Senior Citizen Center in Leitchfield.
Freda is survived by her devoted companion, Damon Clark of Leitchfield; three sons, Gary “Squirrel” Pharris (Melinda), Gerald Edward Pharris and Phillip Earl Pharris all of Spring Lick; four daughters, Kay Fleener (Curtis) of Falls of Rough, Audrey Woodcock and Mary Ellen Lee both of Spring Lick and Lisa Ann Smith (Ricky) of Leitchfield; one brother, David Embry of Caneyville; two sisters, Jean Patterson of Louisville and Betty Wilson of Caneyville; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, Freda is preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Pharris; infant twin sons, Edward and Elmer Pharris; two brothers, Harold and Gerald Embry and one sister, Rosa Embry.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Pete Farris will be officiating. Burial will be in the Kelly Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Thursday after 11 a.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
