Helena Stirsman Jarvis, 93, of Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Professional Care Health and Rehab in Hartford. She was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Muhlenberg County to the late Lonnie and Thelma Stirsman.
Helena was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was retired from General Electric in Owensboro. She loved playing bunko, shopping, UK Basketball and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy Jarvis; her sons Jim Jarvis and Mike Jarvis; her daughters Janie Wallace and Darlene Stewart; brothers Bob Stirsman, Bill Stirsman and Harlan Stirsman; sisters Agnus Tyson, Thelma Stirsman and Christine Graves.
Survivors include her daughter, Leah Rae Black (Jim Crews); daughter-in-law, Sue Jarvis; son-in-law, O.D. Wallace; grandsons, Jeff (Chris) Black and Todd Wallace; granddaughters, Rhonda (Tim) McCullen, Chandra Smith, Michelle Jarvis and Jessica Jarvis; great-grandchildren, Cody Black, Colton Black, Michael Wallace, Andrea Haney and Shelby McCullen; sister, Barbara Watts and sister-in-law, Helen Stirsman.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Greg Hillard officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
