Mildred Maurine Gray, 96, of Hartford, Ky., passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Professional Care Health & Rehab in Hartford. She was born April 2, 1917, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Cleve Baxley and Lavicy Tilford Baxley.
Mrs. Gray retired from Ohio County Hospital where she was a Doctors Assistant. She was a member of Hartford Baptist Church and Lizzie Ford Chapter Order of Eastern Star #112, Hartford, Ky. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, Olen J. Gray on Nov. 11, 1978; two sons, Danny and Tommy Gray in July 1943; three brothers, Wilbur Baxley, James Baxley and Wendell Baxley and three sisters, Gladys Miller, Louise Hines and Marjorie Gish.
Survivors include one son, Donald R. Gray (Ellen) of Bowling Green, Ky.; one granddaughter, Mildred Eaton (Larry) of Carthage, Tenn.; one grandson, Dwight Gray (Gwendolyn) of Copperas Cove, Texas, and one brother, Guy Baxley of Wilmore, Ky.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Ed Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Clear Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartford, Ky.
