IvaMcCormackIva Garnet McCormack, 96, of Hartford, left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 25, 2013. She was born Oct. 23, 1917, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Francis Black Carter and Leah Byers Carter.

Iva dearly loved her family and friends and loved spending time with them. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. She was a member of the Horse Branch Church of God and was a Kentucky Colonel. She worked 26 years with the American Cigar Factory in Owensboro and retired from Cowden’s in 1979.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, H.C. McCormack; her step-daughter, Phyllis McCormack Wilson; three sisters, Essie Carter, Icy Bratcher and Dortha Jackson and two brothers, Dewey Carter and Ivan Carter.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda (Greg) Cooper of Owensboro and Brenda (Kevin) Ford of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren, Kourtney Keown, Travis Ford and Lauren Ford, and a very special great-granddaughter, Kamryn Allen. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Horse Branch Church of God with Rev. Earnest Whitely officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Horse Branch Church of God.
